That commitment has earned FRANKIE4 a 2026 Australian Good Design Award in Design Research, recognizing independent research conducted by Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
Published in the Journal of Foot and Ankle Research, the study examined 29 women experiencing plantar heel pain.
The results were significant:
- 15% reduction in peak heel pressure compared to the control shoe.
- Up to 67% higher comfort ratings compared to the control shoe.
- Measurable heel-pressure redistribution, without significantly increasing pressure under the arch.
“The biggest surprise was that the effect of the shoe alone was actually larger than any of the insert conditions,” said QUT podiatrist and clinical researcher Sheree Hurn.
“Balancing comfort and style in footwear is a much bigger challenge than many people realize,” said Rosie Jamieson, FRANKIE4’s Associate Director of Technical Footwear. “We constantly test, refine and innovate our technology, but we also constantly test, refine and elevate our designs to achieve a beautiful silhouette with a massive amount of comfort engineering hidden inside.”
